Our meadow honey comes from Gornja Lisina, a small village in south-eastern Serbia, above Lake Lisina and near the well-known Lake Vlasina. It is a place industry does not reach, where there are no chemicals in the air and the meadows are a rich mosaic of wildflowers from which our bees gather nectar. Where does our honey come from?
Our hives are located at 1,300 metres above sea level in Gornja Lisina. It is a small, quiet setting, far from cities and industry β a place where nature is almost untouched.

Lake Lisina is one of the few lakes in Europe that remains in an almost entirely natural state today. Its surroundings are protected and exceptionally rich in biodiversity. It is precisely there that our bees gather nectar β at an altitude where the air is clean and unpolluted, and where wildflowers grow without any chemical treatment. At that altitude, particular climatic conditions prevail: colder nights, strong solar radiation and clean air. All of this affects the quality of the nectar and is directly reflected in the aroma, taste and nutritional properties of our honey.
What is meadow honey?
Meadow honey is created when bees gather nectar from a large number of different plant species. Unlike acacia or linden honey, where bees forage predominantly on a single plant, meadow honey is a natural mosaic of dozens of wildflower species. Every season and every year gives a different combination of plants β which is why every batch of our honey has a unique colour, scent and aroma.
A wide variety of wildflowers grows on the meadows of Gornja Lisina in a completely natural environment, without pesticides or artificial fertilisers. The bees fly from flower to flower, gathering nectar and pollen β which is exactly why our honey has a complex, rich aroma rarely found in industrial honeys.
How is our honey made?
π From the hive to your jar
- Gathering nectar: Our bees fly across the meadows at 1,300 m and gather nectar from wildflowers. One bee gathers only about 1/8 of a teaspoon of honey in its entire lifetime.
- Ripening in the hive: The bees deposit the nectar in the comb and gradually evaporate the water until ripe honey is obtained. When the honey is ready, they seal the comb with natural beeswax.
- Extraction: The comb is carefully uncapped and the honey is separated by centrifugation β without heating and without any additives.
- Filtration: The honey passes through a fine mesh that removes only bits of wax and natural particles, while retaining all the enzymes, pollen and nutrients.
- Packaging: The honey is packed into glass jars immediately, without any further processing. What you see in the jar is exactly what the bees produced.
Throughout the whole process we add nothing β no sugar, no water, no flavourings. The honey is 100% natural.

How should honey be stored?

- π§ Moisture: Avoid contact with moisture β close the jar immediately after use.
- βοΈ Crystallisation: If the honey crystallises, this is a natural process and proof that the honey is genuine. You can warm it gently in a water bath (up to 40 Β°C) to make it liquid again.
π‘ Tip: Crystallisation affects only the texture, not the taste or the quality. If you want to liquefy it, place the jar in warm water and it will gradually return to a liquid state.
